Pediatric Thyroglossal Duct Cyst Surgery Patient explains what the procedure felt like and how she feels a few days post op -- UPDATE: May 2011 -- She did AWESOME, this was SUCH an easy procedure, do not be scared. :-) Get it done before it becomes infected for least amount of aggravation. Scar is minimal -- a plastic surgeon had us cover it with a strip of brown surgical tape (non medicated) until the scar went flat, then we used a bottle of Scar Guard (paints on like nail polish) -- Hard to keep that on, as the neck movement causes it to peel off. We typically painted it on then put the tape over to keep it on as long as possible. Keep sunblock on the scar, keep putting the Scar Guard on (or whatever a plastic surgeon of your choosing suggests) until it turns white, which means it is completely healed. Perhaps call a plastic surgeons office, we just popped into one and the surgeon's nurse gave us all of this free advice.
